Winter in Wisconsin

Oil painting from the 2012 series Winter White

Its Winter here in Cedarburg. Yes, of course you know its winter. But do you really know winter in Wisconsin? It was something I loved as a child.  Its something I have a love hate relationship with in my adult life.

The two images in this series represent what it feel like to me to have winter in Wisconsin.  This first painting is 3′ x 4′. It is the first oil painting of the series. It represents the 89 days of the 2012 days of winter.  The second oil painting represents the layers of winter to me. The cold, the ice, the snow ans the wind. All of winter is about layering. It can be clothes or conditions.  Either way, it cold out there!
